The first-ever Active Transportation Summit by the Harrisburg Area Transportation Study (HATS) will take place Thu., Nov. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fort Hunter Park in Harrisburg.
The event -- expected to be held annually -- will bring together representatives from various state agencies and municipalities to share insights, resources and strategies that support active transportation initiatives across the HATS region.
Active transportation refers to human-powered mobility such as biking or walking, as well as the
infrastructure, planning and policies that support it.

Attendees can expect informative presentations, engaging roundtable discussions and opportunities to collaborate on projects that enhance walking, biking and transit options in our communities.
The summit aims to create partnerships and promote actions that create safer, more accessible, and more sustainable transportation networks in the HATS region.
Registration information will be provided at a later date. You can view the region’s recently adopted Active Transportation Plan here: https://www.tcrpc-pa.org/atp.
HATS is the federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the region including Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties in South-Central Pennsylvania.
It is administered by Tri-County Regional Planning Commission (TCRPC), which provides land use and transportation planning for the Harrisburg-Carlisle metropolitan area.
