Southeastern PA Transit Providers:

Introduction

While Philadelphia and Pittsburgh get most of the attention, most of Pennsylvania is served by public transit in one form or another.  Southeastern Pennsylvania is home to numerous transit agencies serving residents and travelers from all over, including CAT in the Harrisburg region, Rabbit Transit in York County, Red Rose in Lancaster County, COLT in Lebanon County, BARTA around the Reading area, SEPTA in the Metro-Philadelphia, and more.  While these local public transit providers provide riders connections throughout each area, connections between the providers are still limited.  The following section provides a brief overview of the transit agencies which serve fixed route bus service in Pennsylvania and connections from Harrisburg to the other transit agencies serving southeastern Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania Fixed Route Bus/Train Public Transportation Providers

All Counties in Pennsylvania provide Paratransit services to those who are unable to access transportation on there own such as those with disabilities, the elderly, and those with no access to automobiles.  Many counties and regions also provide fixed-route public transportation services via bus, rail, and other means.  The following map shows all the counties in Pennsylvania which provide some form of fixed-route public transit.
