A Guide to Public Transportation in the Metro-Harrisburg Region and Beyond

Welcome to the Transit Guide for the Metro-Harrisburg and South Central Pennsylvania. This Guide is set up to provide viewers with all the transit options people have to get to, from, and around the Harrisburg Area. The guide is set up into Chapters which describe the various aspects of public transportation in the region. The beginning of each chapter provides an index to the chapter sections to allow for quick access to specific information. The Chapters are setup as follows:

Chapter 1 - Introduction:
- Provides an overview of all transit in the Harrisburg region along with a contact list with websites and phone numbers of transportation providers and government agencies that deal with transit issues.
Chapter 2 - Connections:
- Provides an overview of all the transportation connections throughout the Harrisburg region, including Bus and Train Stations, Park and Ride Lots, and Airline Connections.
Chapter 3 - Capital Area Transit:
- Provides an overview of CAT in Harrisburg, with contact information and information about each bus route in the system.
Chapter 4 - Paratransit Services and Handicap Access:
- Provides the information on the Shared Ride Programs in Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry Counties and an overview of Handicap Accessible transportation and facilities in the area.
Chapter 5 - Regional/National Transportation Providers:
- Information on Transportation providers in the Harrisburg region including bus, train, taxi, and other providers.
Chapter 6 - Public Transit Authorities in Pennsylvania:
- Information on Public transportation providers throughout Pennsylvania and connection information to transit providers throughout southwest Pennsylvania from Harrisburg.
Chapter 7 - Other Transportation Services and Benefits:
- Describes other transportation related programs in the Harrisburg Region that deal with transportation issues and benefit programs for public transportation.
Chapter 8 - Why Transit:
- Why it is important to use and support public transportation.
Chapter 9 - Glossary:
- Glossary of Terms associated with transit and transportation.
Chapter 10 - Acronyms and Abbreviations:
- List of Acronyms and Abbreviations associated with transit.
Chapter 11 - Appendix - Reports and Maps:
- Collection of Maps of public transportation and transportation facilities in the Harrisburg Region.
