Tri-County Regional Planning Commission was formed in 1966 as a forum for information sharing, consensus building and coordination to resolve regional issues facing the 103 municipalities of Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties. 

Today we continue to work toward resolving regional issues. Our mission is to foster the long-term livability and vitality of our communities, counties and region.  TCRPC administers four main programs, including:  regional planning, transportation, and providing support for the Dauphin County Planning Commission and Perry County Planning Commission. 

Through the RGMP we work to promote the growth and revitalization in our established communities, protecting our air, land and water resources and continuing to support programs that will integrate transportation, land use and the environment, and economic development.   Resource protection and maximizing existing infrastructure makes economic sense as our region faces uncertain economic times.

Quality of life issues are also an important touch point in the RGMP.  Some tangible benefits of the RGMP are reduced taxpayer costs, lower costs for individual households, increased water efficiency, increased energy efficiencies, more options for transportation, improved health and availability of local food and more parks and open spaces.

Guiding our work is a 31-member appointed board, comprised of residents and officials from Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties. They meet on a quarterly basis.   A seven member Executive Committee takes an active role in our administration and meets on a monthly basis.

TCRPC meets regional needs with a small staff of 15, who provide technical expertise, educational and training opportunities and support, in a spirit of collaboration.
