Southeastern PA Transit Providers:

STS bus routes serve numerous communities throughout Schuylkill County via I-81, US 209, SR 61, 924, and 309.  Similar to the CAT system, senior citizens can ride free during non-peak hours and all day Saturday.

  • The STS Fixed Route Bus System operates Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. No bus service is provided on Sundays.
  • All Senior Citizens over the age of 65 ride free all day with proper identification complements of the Pennsylvania State lottery and the Schuylkill County Office of Senior Services. Free fare transportation during peak hours (weekdays from 7:00 AM to 7:59 AM and 4:30 PM to 5:29 PM) is also available for eligible seniors through the Schuylkill County Office of Senior Services Senior Citizens 65 years of age and over must register for free transportation services funded by the Pennsylvania Lottery.
  • Children under the age of nine ride free. Ages nine to 12 ride for $0.50 (must be accompanied by an adult).
  • Wheelchair Accessibility provided on the fixed route bus system to all physically-challenged individuals.
  • Bus Stop Shelters are provided at key locations for the safety and convenience of our riders.
  • Transfers for passengers continuing their ride on a connecting route are available for 25 cents when boarding the first bus.
  • Frequent Rider discounted bus fares available.
  • Rider Discount Program for students enrolled at Penn State Schuylkill Campus

Connections to Harrisburg:

  • Connections to Downtown Harrisburg and CAT can be made via R&J Transportation, Inc. routes.

  • On the R&J North Run, connections can be made at the Frackville Mall.

  • On the R&J South Run, STS and R&J meet at Kings Village, and both also have stops in Cressona and Pine Grove.
