City Island is a recreation and entertainment area located in the middle of the Susquehanna River.

Commerce Bank Park is home to the Harrisburg Senators, an AA minor league baseball team. The Pride of the Susquehanna is Harrisburg’s only genuine paddleboat, providing sightseeing and dinner cruises of the Harrisburg riverfront.

The island also provides two parking lots and a parking garage for those who’s who work downtown but wish to pay a cheaper fee than the parking garages downtown.

Information on parking costs and hours is available from the Harrisburg Parking Authority.

CAT provides shuttles to downtown Harrisburg with the Islander bus running at peak hours between City Island, along Market to 7th St. and back on Walnut, Route CI serves downtown Harrisburg to HACC and Blue Cross.  If CORRIDORone is implemented to Cumberland County, a City Island Station would be built.

The island’s north parking lot provides parking for Senators games and special events on the island.  Many of those who park there will use the Walnut Street Pedestrian Bridge or the Market Street Bridge to walk into downtown.  The Islander and CI buses stop at the platform located at the entrance to the north parking lot next to the underpass.

The south side of Market Street has both a parking lot that provides additional parking for automobiles as well as a number of locations for bus parking and a parking garage.  The Harrisburg Parking Authority, working with Capital Area Transit has constructed the parking garage adjacent to the CAT Bridge for the future use of the CORRIDORone City Island Station.  The construction of the City Island Parking Garage has added over 480 spaces to the city’s parking total.  The Islander and CI bus routes stop in front of the parking garage to pick up customers.

As a transfer center, City Island provides several options:

  • City Island Parking for those who wish to drive to the island and either walk or take the bus into town.

  • South Lot Bus Stop: Route CI and Islander start their routes here.  Located in front of Parking Garage, these two routes run mainly during morning and afternoon peak periods.

  • North Lot Bus Platform: Route CI and Islander pick up and drop off passengers here on their way to the South Lot Bus Stop.

  • Market Street Bus Stops:  These sheltered stops are located on both sides of Market Street for those who wish to access the West Shore buses via City Island.  Buses traveling along the Market Street Bridge will stop here if flagged.
